Our philosophy
We work closely with trusted partner organisations in Brazil that provide concrete help with commitment and professionalism. Our approach is built on networks, trust developed over many years, and the foundation members' broad experience in local project work.
Our goal
To give children and young people hope, education and prospects for the future - where poverty, violence and lack of opportunity are part of daily life.

Concrete, humane, effective!

Comunidade Viva supports local initiatives in Brazil that offer children and young people in poor neighbourhoods a protected space. Our foundation works closely with established projects run by partner organisations such as Brasilien-Cooperative-Haltern e.V. and Ajuda e.V.

All this happens in social hotspots - with one clear goal: giving children opportunities and prospects.

Our partner projects offer:
  • Homework help and educational support
  • Leisure, sport and cultural activities
  • Healthy nutrition and structured daily routines
  • Values education and community
  • Psychosocial support and family work
  • Active pedagogy and school gardens

Why Brazil?
Millions of Brazilian children grow up in poverty - without education, prospects or a safe daily life. Not because they lack talent, but because they lack opportunity. That is where we focus our work.
„For me, investing in the future of children who would have practically no chance without our support offers the best possible return.“
— Bernd Kemper, Co-founder

Our values

Transparency. Proximity. Trust.

These three values guide every decision we make - from the first contact with partners to the last cent in the transparency report.

Transparency
We know exactly where every euro goes. Annual reports with photos, figures and stories from the projects show you what your commitment achieves.
Personal proximity
Our team visits the projects regularly. We know the people, places and stories. No bureaucracy between us and the impact - just real connections.
Sustainability
We complement existing structures; we do not replace them. Our projects arise where public support does not reach - with the goal of creating long-term change.
The team

Three founders. One hundred years of commitment.

Bernd, Jackson and Jan work voluntarily - with commitment, experience and a deep personal connection to Brazil.

40+ years of commitment to Brazil
„Extreme social inequality leads not only to poverty but, in many parts of the world and especially in Brazil, to violence and crime. At ComunidadeViva, our name reflects our mission: we want to foster vibrant communities and strengthen the resilience of our project partners.“
Jackson Roehrig
Prof. Dr. Jackson Roehrig
25 years of Brasilien-Cooperative
„Work with children and young people is the foundation for preserving and building our community of values. Education means more security for the individual and for society.“
Jan Kleine Büning

International cooperation and Ajuda e.V.
„I find it meaningful and also my duty to stand up for people who had far worse starting opportunities than I did. Even small forms of help can change entire biographies for the better. That keeps driving me.”
Your sustainable commitment

Why an endowment gift?

An endowment gift is more than a donation - it is a lasting gift to the future. Your capital remains preserved; only the returns flow into our projects. Year after year. Generation after generation.

  • Your assets remain preserved
Only the returns flow into projects - the base capital grows and creates lasting impact.
  • Tax-attractive
Endowment gifts are tax-deductible under § 10b EStG. We issue the donation confirmation.
  • Can be earmarked
Would you like to support education, health or a specific project? We coordinate that with you personally.
  • Legally secure
Comunidade Viva is a legally recognised foundation under foundation supervision. Your endowment gift is in safe hands.
Become part of the living community
Every endowment gift strengthens our ability to help reliably and long-term where the need is greatest. As an individual, company or through a testamentary gift - your commitment leaves traces for generations.
Our board advises you personally and confidentially on all options.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions - our answers

What is the difference between a donation and an endowment gift? +
A donation goes into expendable funds and is used promptly for current projects. An endowment gift, by contrast, increases the foundation's base assets; this capital remains permanently preserved, and only the returns (e.g. interest) are used for projects. This creates lasting impact.
How safe is my money with Comunidade Viva? +
Comunidade Viva is a legally recognised non-profit foundation based in Germany and subject to foundation supervision. Endowment gifts receive tax support under § 10b EStG. Your money is legally protected and managed according to the strict requirements of German foundation law.
How do I find out what happens with my money? +
As an endowment donor, you regularly receive our transparency report with concrete information: photos from the projects, reports from partner organisations, examples from the lives of supported children and a precise presentation of how funds are used.
Can I make an earmarked endowment gift? +
Yes. If you would like your endowment gift to benefit a specific project area (education, health, school garden) or a specific place, we coordinate that with you personally and confidentially.
Is there a donation receipt? +
Of course. For every endowment gift or donation, we issue a tax-deductible donation confirmation under German tax law. You receive it promptly after your contribution.
I would like to include the foundation in my will - is that possible? +
Yes, a testamentary endowment gift is possible and can be arranged individually. Our board is happy to advise you personally and confidentially - without obligation and according to your wishes.
